Customer Service/Pay Attendant

As a Customer Service representative, you will be the outward face of Rogue Disposal & Recycling to our customers and community at large.

You will provide service to walk-in customers — including receipt of payments, answers to service questions, creating and processing work orders, and directing incoming telephone calls to the right person. You will also assist billing clerks in their roles of creating and processing customer billing statements and collecting and posting customer payments. In addition, you will assist the dispatch clerk as needed, and assist at the Transfer Station as a pay attendant.

Key Position Responsibilities and Accountability

Provides service to walk-in customers

  • greets walk-in customers and directs them to appropriate resources
  • provides information to the public regarding company services and rates
  • receives cash payments from customers
  • prepares customer work orders, posts those orders to customer accounts, and assures timely communication of work orders to drivers

Answers and directs incoming telephone calls, and creates and processes work orders based on those calls

  • answers telephone and routes caller to appropriate party
  • provides information to the public regarding company services and rates
  • prepares customer work orders, posts those orders to customer accounts, and assures timely communication of work orders to drivers

Assists billing clerks as needed, in such tasks as:

  • cash receipt and data entry
  • processing daily work

Required Skills

  • Written and oral fluency in English needed to understand and prepare both written and oral instructions, and to communicate with a predominantly English-speaking customer and driver base
  • Communication skills for both telephone and direct contact with the public
  • Ability to effectively address customer concerns presented either in person or on the phone
  • Ability to accurately identify service requirements with a customer
  • Math skills needed to calculate rate adjustments for discounted or partial service
  • Intermediate computer skills required to input information into a computer — including ten-key entry, work orders, billing and credit-posting information
  • Ability to organize and maintain a filing system
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Conditions of Employment

Candidates for this position must meet the above requirements and successfully pass pre-employment examinations, including a drug screen.

  • Division/Department: Administration
  • Reports to: Office Manager
  • Location: One West Main Street in downtown Medford and 8001 Table Rock Road at the Transfer Station in White City
  • Employee Status: Regular full time, 40 hour week, or regular part-time
  • Work Schedule: Formal work week is from Sunday through Saturday. Scheduled work is 8 am to 5 pm. Additional work on other days may be required as needed. Work day includes two paid 15 minute rest periods and a 30 minute unpaid meal period.
  • Probationary Period: Three months
