Key Position Responsibilities and Accountability

Collects, reports and tracks environmental monitoring

  • Conducts environmental inspections, sampling reporting and training with facility-specific stormwater, groundwater and gas management plans
  • Calibrates, operates and maintains electronic data collection devices
  • Properly operates and maintains environmental systems in a timely and cost-effective manner to ensure regulatory compliance and optimize performance
  • Collects data from well field extraction and environmental monitoring locations
  • Operates and maintains liquid management systems, including pneumatic or electric-driven pumps
  • Performs well field valve/vacuum adjustments and maintenance and interprets data collected

Tracks and reports on compliance-related tasks

  • Tracks compliance tasks for air and water quality monitoring
  • Ensures compliance with air and water quality monitoring through environmental data review and reporting

Assists the landfill team as needed

  • Provides clerical and administrative support to the operations department
  • Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related tasks as required

Position Requirements

  • Four-year technical degree in environmental studies, engineering, chemistry or biology
  • Ability to understand environmental regulations related to landfill operations, including gas, leachate, groundwater and stormwater
  • Advanced computer skills, including statistical evaluation of data sets and mastery of Excel
  • Communicates effectively and consistently inside and outside the organization
  • Writes clearly and succinctly
  • Follows all job-related health and safety requirements and procedures
  • Ability to physically lift, push, pull and handle objects up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work outdoors — including exposure to dirt, odors, noise and adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to walk over steep and rough terrain, occasionally for considerable distances
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment as need — including safety glasses, boots, vest, respirator, etc.
  • Chemical laboratory experience is a plus

Candidates for this position must meet the above requirements and successfully pass pre-employment examinations, including a physical ability test, drug test and background check.

Division/Department: Dry Creek Landfill, Inc.

Reports to: Environmental Systems Manager

Location: Dry Creek Landfill

Employee Status: non union/non exempt/at will

Work Schedule: Formal workweek is from Sunday through Saturday. Scheduled work is 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. Additional work required as needed. Workday includes 30 minutes unpaid meal period and two paid 15-minute breaks.

Probationary Period: 90 days


Wages: $16 to $20 per hour
