Solar Array at the Transfer Station

Installing an innovative photovoltaic (PV) power system at the Transfer Station allows us to convert sunlight into electricity — generating more than 55 kilowatt hours of electricity each year, enough to power 10 homes per day. A PV system links solar panels together, converting the sun’s rays into electricity with no air pollution, hazardous waste or noise. The project was made possible with an Energy Trust of Oregon grant.

The PV system provides renewable power to our customer service center at the Transfer Station, offsetting reliance on fossil-derived sources. Using solar PV power benefits the community by reducing electricity demand and sending additional electricity back to the grid when more power is generated than used.
