Local event gave residents the chance to dispose of prescription drugs and safely destroy documents at no cost
This year’s Medford Police Department Drug Take Back and Rogue Shred Event, took place on Saturday, April 22 from 9 am to noon at the City Hall parking lot. Once again, this annual even was hosted by the Medford Police Department.
One event, two things to safely dispose of
Drug Take Back. Residents were able drop off their unused, outdated and unwanted prescription drugs — reducing the chances of a child or someone else accidentally getting into them. Organizers say that at this year’s event, 237 people participated, dropping off nearly 500 pounds of medications.
Rogue Shred. Residents were also able to bring the equivalent of three grocery bags full of personal and confidential paperwork to be shredded. Personnel from Rogue Shred were on hand to collect materials and operate the Rogue Shred trucks. Events like this are the perfect opportunity for folks in our area to shred paperwork that contains personal information — such as tax returns, medical paperwork, credit card receipts, bank statements, loan statements and billing information. Our goal is to help keep your key personal information from getting into the hands of identity thieves. A total of 266 people participated in the Rogue Shred event this time around.
A big thank you to the Medford Police Department for hosting this important community event, and to everyone who came by to dispose of prescription drugs and have confidential paperwork destroyed
