May the fourth was with us for this year’s household toxins drop-off event

Cold, rainy weather didn’t deter some 560 cars from taking advantage of this year’s Household Hazardous Waste Day, held May 4 at the Transfer Station in White City. Thanks to an amazing on-site team from Rogue Disposal & Recycling, more than 40,945 pounds in cleaning supplies, pesticides, bleach, garden chemicals, weed killer, drain cleaner, batteries, pool chemicals and more were collected. That’s more than 20 tons of household toxins that will now be safely disposed of and kept out of the solid waste stream — a huge win for the community and the area we call home.

This was Rogue Disposal & Recycling’s 33rd year organizing and running the Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Day, and once again, area residents showed up in force. Big kudos to our team from Rogue as they dealt with temperatures in the 40s, steady rain and gusty winds. It takes a village to make this event run smoothly and this year’s Rogue crew did a stellar job from start to finish.

A team from Clean Earth — a national leader in hazardous waste management —worked alongside the folks from Rogue. They were on site to safely and professionally handle the materials dropped off.

Rogue Disposal & Recycling is happy to host this yearly event, giving people throughout the valley a safe and easy way to drop off chemicals that might otherwise end up in the environment or the landfill. To make it as simple as possible, there was no cost to those dropping off their household hazardous waste

A big thanks to everyone who came out and took advantage of this year’s Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Day!

A separate day for businesses

In conjunction with our residential event, Conditionally Exempt Generator Day, available to business and industrial accounts in Jackson and Josephine counties, took place on Friday, May 3, a day before the open-to-the-public event. Over the course of several hours, we processed a total of 21 businesses. We appreciate all of the businesses that applied and turned out.

Our sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone that came out to make this year’s event a success!
