Pay Attendant
As a Pay Attendant at the Transfer Station in White City, you will be the outward face of Rogue Transfer and Recycling to our customers and community at large.
You will provide service to customers as they drive onto the site — including determining load costs, taking payments, answering questions and directing customers to the right areas within the Transfer Station site.
- Division/Department: Customer Service/Pay Attendant
- Reports to: Customer Service Manager
- Location: 8001 Table Rock Road at the Transfer Station in White City
- Employee Status: Regular full time, 40 hour week, or regular part-time
- Work Schedule: Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 7 am to 5 pm. Saturday work is required. Work day includes two paid 15 minute rest periods and a 30 minute unpaid meal period.
- Probationary Period: Three months
Key Position Responsibilities and Accountability
- Operates the Customer Service Center pay window and provides receipts.
- Monitors access and usage of the transfer station and recycling depot.
- Inspects waste and recyclables to ensure proper disposal.
- Determines load sizes and calculates disposal fees.
- Resolves customer disputes and provides service-related information.
- Maintains cleanliness and safety of the yard and facility.
- Balances daily revenue and submits reports to accounting.
- Secures the facility at the end of the day (locks, alarms, etc.).
- Participates in training and service improvement initiatives.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License with Clean Driving Record
- Must pass random drug and alcohol screenings per company policy.
- Strong reading, writing, and verbal skills to follow instructions and interact with predominantly English-speaking public, including handling conflicts.
- Ability to work quickly and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in computerized cashiering and inventory systems.
- Competent in basic math, including handling money and calculating volumes.
- Familiar with recyclable material criteria, preparation procedures, and alternative disposal options.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials, bloodborne pathogens, and emergency procedures.
- Punctual, dependable, and capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Able to lift up to 65lbs, operate equipment for heavier loads, stand for long periods, climb onto and into vehicles for purposes of load inspection, and move around the facility.
