Municipal Marketing Manager

Key Position Responsibilities and Accountability

Ensure work is performed in accordance with industry standards and best practices, following federal and state regulations for Rogue Waste System’s Mission Vision and Values

  • Oversees management of jurisdictional franchises/license agreements/contracts for hauling companies and transfer stations, working with management team to ensure compliance
  • Develop and execute relationships with local governments, associated authorities, and committees, representing and protecting the company’s interests, and attend city council and county commissioner meetings as needed to represent those interests.
  • Help sites effectively manage and update operations responsive to new and ongoing legislative actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, regulators, customers, and community organizations.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices, and emerging issues related to waste management, recycling and sustainability.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports for leadership and regulatory authorities
  • Represent Waste Connections as a member of stakeholder groups developing regulations.
  • Manage and respond to community concerns.
  • Serves as liaison with jurisdictional contacts, coordinates with District Managers to mediate conflicts, and facilitate communication to ensure swift responses to issues and opportunities.
  • Manage internal and external communications with respect to rate case studies for regulated companies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in political science, public policy, environmental science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy or related field
  • Strong understanding of local and regional government policies, regulations and legislation related to waste management, recycling and sustainability
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, regulators, customers, and community organizations
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, develop creative solutions and drive results
  • Strong commitment to sustainability and waste reduction

Wages: $90k-$100K with opportunity for bonus and RSU
